American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 Information
President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) on February 17.
The ARRA is an unprecedented effort to jumpstart our economy, create or save millions of jobs,
and address challenges so our country can thrive.
The City of Modesto has developed a plan to implement ARRA in these categories. Click on each category to view detailed

The City of Modesto has various plans for monies
available in the Recovery Act including projects to benefit
public transportation, road resurfacing and maintenance, and
improving Highway 99.

The City of Modesto is seeking funds through the Recovery
Act to help our troubled housing market. Federal recovery
dollars received would be used for middle- to low- income
down payment assistance, homelessness prevention, and for
the purchase and rehabilitation of foreclosed properties.

The City of Modesto has identified several energy and
cost saving projects that will benefit from Recovery Act
funds. Projects include upgrading outdated HVAC systems,
solar panels on City buildings, and low energy street
lights.

The City of Modesto is competing for funding made
available through the Recovery Act to keep our public safety
officers on the streets through the COPS and US Department
of Justice grant
programs.

The City of Modesto is working with the State through its
State Revolving Fund (SRF) program to fund critical water
and wastewater projects. The Recovery Act has allocated
monies to this fund and will be available on a competitive
basis. This program will offer low interest loans for
the completion of capital projects for our utility systems.
